Incorporated as a mere trading company selling flex media in the year 2007, Neenjas Technologies has come a long way to become what it is today—an internationally acclaimed manufacturer of LED modules, switched-mode power supply (SMPS), EV Charger, Segmented Displays, SPD and Controllers for diverse LED-based products and signage systems. The portfolio also includes IGBT-based static voltage stabiliser.

Earlier days

After BE from Delhi College of Engineering in 2003, Vineet was working at the French company STMicroelectronics in ASIC division for 10 years. “It was my attraction to SMPS manufacturing that eventually forced me to leave my job to start a manufacturing unit. It’s challenging, more technical and it’s my area of interest. In a way, manufacturing LED modules is a straight forward task and many do it at ease,” mentions Vineet.

What’s in the name?

The name ‘Neenjas’ might sound something connected to Ninja warriors of Japan. But the story behind the coining of it has a different twist. “It’s an acronym formed by combining the initial letters from the names of my mother and father—Neena and Jaswant,” says Vineet, adding, “It’s a dedication to my parents.” He further adds that the idea of course is of Japanese Ninja warriors whose swift action and valour inspire him.

Gradual expansion

It was in the year 2013 Neenjas started manufacturing LED modules in Bawana Industrial Area in Delhi. In the meanwhile, the company also set up their R&D Department at Bengaluru under the mentorship of STMicroelectronics. “We switched to manufacturing because we would see the growing market of LED technology. Perhaps we are India’s first LED module manufacturer,” mentions Vineet.

From time to time, Neenjas keeps on expanding its product portfolio. In the year 2015, the company started manufacturing SMPS at Bawana and finally moved to its newly integrated manufacturing facility in Noida. In 2017, IGBT-based Static Voltage Stabilizer (ILC) was also incorporated in the list of manufactured products.

Vast clientele

Immediately after Neenjas started manufacturing LED modules in Bawana, the first big order they received was from The Lodhi hotel in New Delhi for their LED lighting solution. After that came the second big order from The Times Group which opted Neenjas LED modules to replace all the tube lights in their backlit signage systems installed at IGI Airport in New Delhi.

Based upon the feedbacks from Airport signage and the company’s technical expertise, IOCL approved Neenjas products in competition to world leaders like GE, OSRAM, etc. That was a big milestone and turning point for the company.

Further, based upon the quality, supply and service, Neenjas manages to get approvals in major PSUs from HPCL, BPCL, etc. “Going into the retail segment we got our products approved from Samsung and Patanjali for all their indoor and outdoor signage and display systems. We feel proud of such approvals we received from big brands,” informs Vineet.

Some of the prominent corporate biggies in the clientele of Neenjas include PVR, HPCL, BPCL, Patanjali, Gillette, Olay, Sony, Reliance, JCDecaux, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited, Rapid Metro, etc. Also included in the list are some leading hotels and resorts such as Shangri-la, The Leela, The Lalit, Aman Resorts, among others.

Strong team

Neenjas boasts of a robust team of more than 120 professionals with unique skill and experience, among which 15 are Electronic/Mechanical Engineers. A host of knowledge-driven team members carries out the company’s R&D activities, under the mentorship of experts with more than 30 years of experience in power electronics.

“Customisation is one of our strongholds and unique features of our products. We customise or can customise products as per the need of our customers who develop everything in partnership with us. Let’s take the example of our premier customer Samsung, which uses Neenjas SMPS, when they require very slim 24V SMPS for special signage,” mentions Vineet. Neenjas has a nationwide network of dealers based in all major cities including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Lucknow, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, etc.

Landmark projects

Neenjas has so far been taken up landmark projects in India and abroad. “Apart from our stronghold presence in India,we have accomplished some projects in offshore destinations. Of them, we can mention the LEDs we supplied for backlit displays installed at Mauritius Airport and The Dubai Mall,” says Vineet, adding that they have also completed quite a number of backlit signage projects at airports in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Dehradun.

Apart from airports, landmark backlit signage projects of Neenjas are dotted in other domains such as retail and bus shelters. The Times Group and Signpost are some of the company’s key customers whose backlit display projects are seen at bus shelters at Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Thane. “Our SMPS portfolio consists of models which are weather proof and suitably designed for outdoor signage applications,” mentions Vineet. In the retail domain, Neenjas partners with some big brands including Patanjali, Shoppers Stop and others.

Efficiency matters

Neenjas is now in a mission to make their SMPS most efficient, cost-effective models that consume less power. “In the signage sector, what we observe and notice is that everybody is chanting ‘Low price! Low price!’ and they care little or nothing about efficiency of products. In the LED lighting world, efficiency is an important parameter and another same important parameter is power factor. But it seems like nobody in the signage industry is caring about these parameters,” comments Vineet.

Neenjas SMPS models evolve in all parameters. Apart from signage, the company’s flagship power suppliers are designed for many other common products such as CCTVs, ROs, IT cameras, etc. “But we don’t supply our products to this market. Our focus is on signage applications,” emphasises Vineet.

Based on competency and strength in maintaining efficiency and power factor, Neenjas is introducing SMPS models for the signage market. “Our new SMPS models will be little costlier than any other conventional model in the market. But we expect that those looking for efficient technology will surely understand our products and go for it,” comments Vineet.

New at Media Expo 2019

At the New Delhi edition of Media Expo 2019, scheduled from September 06-08 at Pragati Maidan, Neenjas is announcing a set of highly efficient light weight and small SMPS models, which are designed for slim LED-based signage displays. “Slim LED sign systems are common in the market,” observes Vineet, adding that new SMPS models are not only slim, light and small, but also more than 90 percent efficient in terms of power consumption.

Vineet conclusively states that the team Neenjas is working rigorously to enhance their products and technologies to new standards, making them ideal choice for those in pursuit of new marvel in LED signage.
