HP “restores” Korea’s national monument in just 72 hours
HP “restores” Korea’s national monument in just 72 hours
HP Korea announced its support for the NEWS FOR YOU
nation’s restoration of historical landmark
Sungnyemun by enhancing the construction
barricade surrounding restoration works
recently, with a façade of the original
Sungnyemun before it was destroyed
by fire.
As a responsible organisation, HP recognised
the need to help Koreans maintain the dignity
of the nation’s heritage-rich landmark by
mounting a two-dimensional vision of how the
national monument looked before the fire
incident. This vision was accomplished on a
construction barricade which was installed in
February, shortly after the fire to protect the
ruins against further damage.
Using the HP Scitex TJ8500, HP Korea
printed a life-size spitting image of
Sungnyemun. This 270m by 14m (3,780m2)
image was made up of a series of digitally
printed pieces which were then cut and
assembled before being mounted on the
construction barricade.
First introduced in Korea by print service
provider Artmania in November 2007, the
HP Scitex TJ8500 is a high-speed wide
format digital printing device ideal for a
variety of indoor and outdoor applications
ranging from bus and taxi shelters, floors,
window graphics and exhibition panels. The
HP Scitex TJ8500 uses environmentally
friendly UV-curable HP Scitex UV850
Supreme ink and provides high-speed printing
of 400m2(equivalent to the size of a basketball
court) per hour at 336dpi, allowing users to
enjoy higher productivity.
HP has accelerated its digital printing presence
in the large format printing market worldwide
by printing a giant-sized graphic of the
Manchester United football team in the
United Kingdom and the world’s biggest
outdoor displays in Buenos Aires, Argentina
with HP Scitex. In doing so, HP is enhancing
the beauty of cities globally with superior
printing quality for outdoor printing needs.
