Oberoi Vindhyavilas is nestled near the Bandhavgarh National Park & Tiger Reserve, which boasts of one of the highest densities of tigers in the world. At this luxury resort, air-conditioned tents are set within an expansive private garden with a floating island deck, adorned with local motifs, and abundant natural light. Each tent features 60sqm interiors.
VADS was assigned to implement way finding solutions for 19 air-conditioned tents. In addition, one suite development was designed using stones quarried at site and themed around many species of birds that are found in this reserve. Along with Katni marble, the multi-disciplinary design studio used charred timber, brass and rust stabilised steel for the indoor and outdoor signs.
Charred pine woods of 10mm thick in matte tacquer are fixed to the walls with 3M VHB tapes. Brass metals are of 3mm thick. The katni stone slabs of 15mm thick are laser cut. The 3D birds made of corten steel materials are chemically treated to stabilize outdoor exposure. Symbols of smaller birds such as sparrow, parakeet, and dove represent the tents while falcon for the suite.
