FLEXcon to acquire Graphics Division of Arlon
FLEXcon, a leading manufacturer of pressure-sensitive films and adhesives, announces that it has entered an agreement to acquire the business assets of the Graphics Division of Arlon Inc, California. Digitograph shifts to new premises

Epson ProCentre inaugurated in Hyderabad
Epson along with its Pro-Graphic partner MIS recently unveiled the first Epson ProCentre in Hyderabad. The new centre located in Durga Nagar Colony, Opposite Rama Fertility, Ameerpet is part of Epson’s retail initiative for large-format professional graphics printers. ProCentre will showcase a range of solutions that will target professional photographers, pre-press houses, fine art and graphic companies, architect and interior design firms, mapping organisation and other relevant segments engaged in Epson Pro-graphic activities.
Neschen receives Fogra certificate
Standardisation in large-format printing has now arrived officially at Neschen AG. The proof for this is shown by the test certificate FograCert Validation Print Creation. Fogra hereby confirms that CA materials produced by Neschen provide results, under controlled printing conditions, which are comparable to offset prints produced according to the Fogra 39 process standard.
Fogra was testing the Neschen digital print medium solvoprint nolite 175 CA. On the one hand, this CA medium delivers incomparable quality and therefore facilitates the way to standardised production; on the other hand, certified print quality is ensured with solvoprint nolite 175 CA. This means comprehensive process reliability for users in large-format digital printing.
Xennia completes acquisition of Cametrics

HP and Canon photo printers bag BLI awards
Buyers Laboratory Inc (BLI), one of the world’s leading independent testers of document imaging products, announces the Winter 2011 ‘Pick’ winners in the wide-format category, with honours going to HP Designjet Z6200 and Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6350 photo printers. The awards are presented semi-annually to the products that perform the best in their respective categories throughout BLI’s in-depth lab testing. During the test, BLI evaluates all critical performance areas, including reliability, image quality, productivity, ease of use, paper handling, print drivers and administrative utilities, among others.
HP Designjet Z6200, which offers blistering productivity and superior colour quality, was selected as BLI’s ‘Pick’ for Outstanding Color Inkjet Wide-Format Production Photo Printer.’ Whereas the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6350 was chosen by BLI as a ‘Pick’ award winner for ‘Outstanding Color Inkjet Wide-Format Small Workgroup Photo Printer’ based on its glowing overall performance during BLI’s lab test.
Virtu RR50 chosen for eminent design award
The versatile five-metre Virtu RR50 roll-to-roll printer from Swiss wide-format digital ink-jet manufacturer Polytype has been selected by the International Forum’s (iF) Product Design Awards 2011 as a winner in the Industry and Skilled Trades category. Assessed rigorously against criteria incorporating design quality, workmanship, eco-friendliness, safety and brand value, the award provides international, interdisciplinary recognition of the printer’s contribution to innovation in printing technology development.
Virtu RR50 from Polytype receives the iF Seal of Design Excellence, which is valid for its entire product life cycle, and will be included in the iF’s Product Design Award Yearbook.

Roland’s ‘Best of the Worst Ideas’ contest winners announced
Roland announces that Brian Mallory of Oliver Signs in Valley City, Ohio has been named winner of its ‘How Not to Build the Perfect Printer’ website contest. Part of a marketing campaign for Roland’s newest VersaCAMM VS metallic inkjet printer/cutters, the contest site asked respondents to enter their best ‘Bad Ideas’ for building a printer – ideas which would never make the cut at Roland.
More than 500 contest entries were received and judged by a panel of marketing experts. The grand prize, an Apple iPad, was awarded to Mallory for his standout entry, ‘Release The Kittens!’ Runners up included ‘The Yesterday Button’ by Ken W and ‘High Five’ by David V. Many of the ideas were quite funny and some, such as ‘The Yesterday Button,’ were actually very good ‘Bad Ideas’.
Aditya introduces ‘Eurolite’ wall-graphic vinyls
The digital printing industry is increasing its scope from advertising to a much larger interior and exterior decoration industry. For this purpose, Mumbai-based Aditya has launched new wall graphic self-adhesive vinyls which can be printed on solvent, eco-solvent, latex, UV printers as per custom designs and can be pasted on plain walls, sheets, or any flat surfaces like ACP, SS, foam sheets, etc.
Unique properties
These 250-micron embossed vinyls are available in various patterns to give a wide choice for interior decorations. The vinyls are flame retardant, scratch proof and washable after printing, resistant to many chemicals and has high tensile strength (2400 g/10 mm at 23oC). The surface of the vinyls is textured with a pearlescent coat to ensure long durability without any need for lamination. These vinyls use emulsion based pressure sensitive adhesives, which can last for over five years after pasting by professionals and can be removed mostly without leaving any marks.
Unlimited applications
Eurolite wall graphic vinyls are available in rolls having 48-inch width and 30-m length. These digitally printed graphics can be commercially used as wallpapers, art reproductions, portraits, murals, promotional messages, etc at various locations like restaurants, airports, shopping malls, hotels, retail outlets, homes and offices, studios, cinema halls, etc.
These vinyls not only replace the traditional wall paper which have limited patterns and prints, short life and are non- customised but also open a wide scope of self designed wall decorations in the most economical and speedy way.

Among the big crowd pullers at the recent Sign India 2011 expo held from February 18-20, 2011 at Chennai Trade Centre was Chennai-based Digitech Machinery Private Limited whose stand displaying Leopard Q8 printer with Konica printheads of 42PL attracted every visitor around. The live demo of the printer proclaimed latest technology and print quality of the machine compatible with varieties of medias including flex, vinyl, poster paper and flag materials.
“Delivering good quality prints at the speed of 400 sq ft/hr, Leopard Q8 was appreciated by printing professionals during the show,” says C Sivanandan, MD, Digitech adding that the company finalised four orders during the show. Also in the company’s product line is Lukio UV hybrid printer and JHF solvent printer distributed across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andra Pradesh. Headquartered in Chennai, branch offices of the company spread across Hyderabad and Bengaluru. “We do support our customers with the right quality solvent inks and our resident sales and service engineers operate from Vijayawada and Chennai,” mentioned Sivanandan.

New EFI ink co-branded for 3M, MCS warranty
EFI announced a new ink for its five-meter roll-to-roll VUTEk GS5000r printer. With EFI’s new ink, co-branded with and qualified by 3M, output from the GS5000r, on 3M media, will meet the requirements of the 3M, MCS Warranty, the premier graphics guarantee in the industry. EFI VUTEk customers will be able to print the same applications they provide, plus an extended range of applications offered by 3M’s materials.
The MCS warranty covers shortcomings in finished graphics’ appearance for up to four years outdoors, including discoloration, fading, cracking, peeling, and other defects that make the graphics unsuitable for their intended purpose and up to five years for vehicle graphics.

California-based Ross Luthin Creative (RLC) announces the introduction of SignArc - a new web-based design service. This new service offers fast, simple and affordable signage designs, accessible directly through its website (www.signarc.com), which is quite user-friendly and informative. However, SignArc does not deal with any manufacturing but offering just signage designs.
