Tucked into a cosy corner of Paharganj’s busy market square of Chunna Mandi area, Only Vinyl Store a.k.a. OVS is an ultimate destination for every customer’s search for vinyl films. Arrived new in the store at the onset of the year 2010 are Avery HP MPI 2611 wall graphic film designed for stunning wall graphics and Avery UC 900 ultra metallic film for smart laptop wraps. GAURAV SHARMA, CEO, OVS talks about the prospects and features of the newly launched wrap films and he importantly mentions the company’s who’s who forming the backbone of business in an interaction with SIGN & GRAPHICS.

Talking at length about Balaji Sign and Graphics, the parent body of OVS, Gaurav narrates that the company’s journey was set off as a joint venture with Avery Dennison four years back. Initiated with business in monomeric series that gradually headed to the swift inclusion of cast vinyl, backlit banners (for telecom companies), and followed by the addition of speciality products, such as ultra-metallic wooden films, vehicle graphic films and others are currently on the shelves of OVS.

New arrivals

Gradual addition of specialty products is OVS’ unique virtue that makes the store a crowded place. Avery UC 900 ultra metallic laptop wrapping film is such a novel product that has been demanded largely since its introduction. “This material would be quite a peculiar film as re-packaging could be done easily,” mentions Gaurav. He adds that the same vinyl can be used in other decorative applications too as the wooden film for laptop wrapping could apply in other areas required for the similar texture. This product is basically a cast film that can take on any shapes or curves, unlike monomeric series.

Avery HP MPI 2611 wall graphic film is a tough, scuff-resistant, flexible white premium calendared vinyl available in both cast and polymeric and specifically designed for interior walls. This product offers an excellent range of applications that include fleet vehicles, marine/watercraft, backlit signs, wall murals, POP, window graphics, floor graphics, etc.

In addition to the new films is a set of car wrapping films of different colours (red, grey, blue and black) that would be launched this year with totally new concepts of both printing and pre-coloured vinyl. “This range would be the first-of-its-kind in India and we would handle in a way to sustain its affordability in the Indian market,” says Gaurav adding that all these products will be available in an OVS showroom to be opened soon in Greater Noida, UP.

Speciality range

To mentin about the speciality media, telecom sector is where OVS keeps on focusing. “This sector is coming up with options for interior applications where frosting film and printable frosting films will find a new space and direct pasting on walls and one-way vision films will get good impact and we are really targeting to catch up those who need specialised media,” asserts Gaurav adding that OVS has been popular for monomeric series all over north India and polymeric series will be the second option that can even deliver a turnkey solution to the requirements of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games 2010, New Delhi.

OVS has been associated with many vendors across India who could convert polymeric films into secondary form of glow signboards. The company’s presence across north India particularly in the cities like Jaipur and Chandigarh is quite robust and further plan is to reach other satellite towns/cities in the region. Seminars and workshops are being organised from time to time to help disseminate awareness about the company and of their new (specialty) products among their clients.

Of the total staffs of around thirty professionals at Balaji Sign and Graphic, a strong OVS team has ventured successfully into specification business where banking sector has been their main criteria. “We are totally market oriented in specification business of 5500 Series cast vinyl of Avery Dennison and our further plan is to embark upon electronics and automobile sectors,” mentions Gaurav.

Shusma Sharma, MD; Gaurav Sharma, CEO; Himanshu Gaur, corporate specification manager, Pravesh Yadav, sales manager; Kiran Bhaskar, marketing manager; Nandan Bisht, account manager; Babu Sharma, display manager; and others are the key driving forces behind the success of the company. “We have a separate team to give special consultation to our clients concerning the details of any new product at OVS,” says Gaurav. It is not only the new products that OVS has counselled as the consultation team keeps on guiding for entire range of products at demonstration centre to help customers catch the right choice.

“With support from Avery Dennison, we expect to excel in such a way that our business would gain more than 100 percent growth this year,” remarks Gaurav. As long as the company’s journey has reached the crescendo of business in mass selling products, the next vision of OVS for the year 2010 is all about specialty products to pave a new business path in a much bigger way.
