Outdoor billboards in London went black out to mark Earth Hour
In London, BFI IMAX, Piccadilly Lights and screens across Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City were powered down to mark Earth Hour on March 22 at 8.30pm. The outdoor locations were joining other prominent landmarks including the London Eye, Tate museums and Buckingham Palace in a symbolic gesture to support the WWF’s moment of positive action. The BFI IMAX in Waterloo, powered by 48,000 LEDs which were upgraded in 2024 to meet sustainability goals, reduced energy usage by 30 percent were also switched off. In addition, all 19 outdoor screens across both of the Westfield retail and leisure destinations went black out for the hour.
