Red, white, and blue has supplanted black and gold on a billboard that overlooks Downtown Pittsburgh. The National Flag Foundation has replaced Sprint as the advertiser on the iconic Mount Washington billboard, which has been the subject of a long legal battle with the city.

Owner Lamar Advertising turned to NFF after its agreement with Sprint expired, said Jonathan Kamin, the billboard company’s attorney. The new sign features a portion of the American flag with the foundation’s initials in the lower right-hand corner. The billboard, which had displayed the historic former Bayer sign that was a fixture on Mount Washington for nearly 90 years, is currently tied up in litigation before the state’s Commonwealth Court.
