Love your problem first!

Every one of us often gets biased when it comes to finding solutions, because we fail to clearly define problems first. It means that we always remain prejudiced towards solutions. One must learn to know precisely what exactly the problems are before looking for instant solutions. My point here is that the more we try to understand our problem, the better chance we get to find a solution. Solution is an outcome that comes in a natural way when you happen to know the precise answer to the question ‘What are you going to solve?’

As we are into the era of high-tech machines/printers with advanced software technologies, it’s quite usual for PSPs/sign vendors in big and small cities or towns to keep looking for newer solutions, such as sophisticated workflow tool or new printing system, wondering which will be suitable for them to resolve problems like decrease profit margin, inefficiency in print production, etc. But the fact is that there is no point of blindly running after any advanced software or automation tool without knowing whether it really will serve as solution to your problem. In this, we must first able to describe the challenges—in a way, we must fall in love with our problem first, after that, we can easily find one or more technologies or something else that can bring solution.

It’s sad to know many industry fellows don’t take time for proper scrutiny over their problems. They just randomly plan to drive business or increase efficiency in print quality by adopting a new technology. It’s not necessary to imagine that investing in an advanced ‘technology’ will surely bring brand new success in business. Sometimes, success depends not only on technology, but also on your team’s learning ability of the technology, how it will be implemented in accordance to relevance and requirement.

If you are going for a specific solution before defining your problem, it’s like you are limiting your choices. There are alternatives to solve any problem. Focusing on a specific technology may not viable to resolve all your challenges. For example, when you choose an automation tool, you need to make certain that your choice is ideal to meet the need of your requirement. In this, you require to know the technology you chose thoroughly by taking expert’s advice or demonstration of the new technology you chose. This is how you can bring solution to your problem, elevating your profit margin and quality in production.

Chennai again in this issue is our focused region under the Region Exclusive column. This is our fourth coverage of the south Indian city. What our traveling team found new in the city was a host of fresh signage companies—some of them are run by young entrepreneurs who have invested in high-end machines, taken up outdoor and interior signage projects for big corporate clients around the city and beyond. The city’s signage players are exceedingly vibrant, innovative and distinctive!
