DCS expands facility and
overseas support team


Success in business of its cutting-edge line of Direct Jet UV LED small-format flatbed inkjet printers, Direct Color Systems (DCS) has announced a significant expansion to its international headquarters in Central Connecticut. The company will now occupy an additional 11,000 sq ft at 99, Hammer Mill Road in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.

A world leader in engineering, manufacturing and marketing small-format, direct-to-substrate flatbed, roll media and thermal ribbon badge printers, DCS will use the new space for an expansion of its inventory management and manufacturing lines, allowing it to continue to reduce lead times for new equipment orders. In addition, DCS continues to expand the support team in its Europe, Asia and Africa (EAA) office with the hiring of Carlos Achando as EAA Service and Support Engineer.



Chimigraf sets in revolutionary UV inkjet technology for India

Hand-in-hand with its Indian distributor Silversheen, leading Spanish digital ink manufacturer Chimigraf will be introducing several new UV-curable inkjet inks and systems to the Indian market. In addition to Chimigraf’s versatile ‘Power V4’ flexible UV inks for printing onto flexible media or use in hybrid printers, the imminent release of the new ‘Power 2H’ series will herald exceptional adhesion and toughness on many rigid substrates. This ink will particularly be in demand on UV-flatbed printers for printing rigid medias such as display boards, acrylic, metals and glass.

Chimigraf’s R&D in Barcelona, Spain has been developing novel UV inkjet inks and systems for a variety of speciality applications including high-speed single pass printing of substrates as diverse as corrugated packaging or wood laminates, at production speeds as high as 70 linear m/min. “We are particularly pleased with the system that we have developed for the wood laminate decoration industry, together with our OEM partner Barberan,” said Daniel Miravete, global inkjet sales director, Chimigraf. He added that the chemistry from Chimigraf comprises special UV-curable white primer/undercoats, very highly durable and light-fast UV-curable inkjet inks, and a choice of matt or glossy UV overcoat lacquers. More innovative applications for UV and industrial inkjet from Chimigraf and Silversheen are what the signage market of India would perceive soon.



3M MCS warranty updated

The newest Latex ink offerings has been announced by 3M Commercial Graphics to qualify for the company’s 3M MCS Warranty for finished graphics - HP LX610 and 792 Latex inks. This new 3M programme will allow graphics manufacturers with HP Scitex LX industrial printers or HP Designjet L28500 and L26500 printers who complete 3M’s certification process the opportunity to produce graphics backed by the 3M MCS Warranty.

The warranty will be valid only with the inks labeled as a 3M MCS Warranty Component starting in November 2012 for HP LX610 Latex inks and in February 2013 for the HP 792 Latex inks. 3M MCS Warranty is widely recognised as the industry’s most comprehensive finished graphics warranty, covering fading, cracking, peeling and other aspects of graphic performance.

In a bid to promote its 3G services, Reliance Communications launched an outdoor campaign urging the smartphone users to switch to Android on Reliance 3G to enjoy the fastest experience. This branding in line with their mainline campaign promoting the two-year collaboration with Google to exclusively market Android devices in India has been campaigning exclusively on JCDecaux bus shelters in New Delhi. Having been used on 10 bus shelters around the capital city, backlit 3D icons of the Blue Android Bot, Google Play, Youtube and Google+ are mounted on the shelter roof enhancing the visual impact of the creative to grab the attention of commuters and vehicular traffic alike.

This is the first time that the Blue Android Bot is featuring in an outdoor format. The strategic selection of the sites offers the brand a perfect platform to reach their target groups. This campaign continues the new trend of the high impact roof top branding initiated by JCDecaux on the streets of Delhi. Dipankar Chatterjee, COO - Street Furniture, JCDecaux India said, “We are proud to showcase the Reliance Blue Android Bot exclusively on our bus shelters. The locations have been strategically spread across the city to provide an effective reach to their campaign along with generating top of the mind recall with innovative displays deployed on all the sites opted by Reliance.”



Inca expands and moves manufacturing plant to new premises

Inca Digital’s new manufacturing facility and head office in Cambridge has recently been inaugurated by Hugh Duberly CBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, who last visited the company in 2005 to present two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise. Inca is known for manufacturing its globally acclaimed Inca Onset and Spyder series of UV flatbed inkjet printers.

Today, Inca’s move to new, larger premises not only increases the floor area of its facilities to 5,869 sq m, but also brings a more efficient manufacturing process under one roof and increases overall production capacity. The new site also provides larger and improved support, training, clean-room and store facilities with scope for future growth. Inca was keen to preserve its Cambridge roots, not only because the city is a key centre of inkjet knowledge and expertise, but also to maintain the close links that Inca has established with Cambridge University and other inkjet technology groups.



Dabur Oxylife breathes at JCDecaux Information Panel

JCDecaux has partnered with Dabur to deliver an innovative campaign for OxyLife, a product from this consumer goods company’s Fem Range. To promote the product, Dabur has taken up an innovative route, JCDecaux Information Panel. Oxygen is important for health and the same is being conveyed through the special JCDecaux display installed at National Highway (NH) 24 Triangle in Delhi. The display has real bubbles originating from a 3D pack of OxyLife floating all over the display to emphasise on the benefits of Oxygen for the skin and its health. The real time bubbles floating over the display attracts the attention of commuters and help to create a top of the mind recall for the brand.

This first-of-its-kind innovation has been installed at one of the JCDecaux Information Panels which is continuously releasing bubbles from the 3D pack of OxyLife adding dynamism to the static display. NH 24 Triangle is located at a high traffic junction and caters to a large number of commuters offering high visibility to this innovative campaign by OxyLife. Rakesh Endlaw, CEO, Adbur (inhouse ad agency of Dabur) said, “The Oxygen Effect’s message was difficult to deliver in a striking manner through a staid outdoor display. But the idea of oxygen bubbles emanating from a 3D pack of OxyLife was effectively translated into action by the technical team of JCDecaux.”



Niranjan Delavictoire appointed as GM of Esko, South Asia

Esko has announced appointment of Niranjan Delavictoire as general manager of Esko, South Asia. This fits in the company’s ambitious growth strategy for the region and further leveraging its leadership in South Asia operations. Niranjan will be operating out of Bengaluru and will be reporting to Hoshi Deboo, president, Esko, Asia Pacific and Japan, based in Singapore.

On the appointment of Niranjan, Hoshi Deboo said, “He brings with him a wealth of market insight and experience that will enable Esko to effectively support our customers and help them grow in the rapidly expanding Indian printing market.” In addition, recognising Shrihari Rao’s exemplary performance for the past 10 years at Esko, he has been promoted to the position of sales director – EskoSouth Asia. Shrihari will report to Niranjan.



Design Forever, New Delhi adopts versatile Nutek UV flatbed

Ess Dee Nutek Infinities Pvt Ltd has marked a landmark installation of its finest class Nutek Fortunjet 3020-8 UV flatbed printer at New Delhi-based Design Forever. The UV flatbed Nutek printer of 10x6 ft is designed in such a special way to meet the demands for interior or indoor graphics printed on a range of rigid materials and substrates, such as ACP, foam-boards, woods, glasses, etc.

“Nutek Fortunjet 3020-8 is equipped with dual compressors and a special UV lamp imported from the UK,” said Tarun Sharma of Ess Dee Nutek Infinities Pvt Ltd. He added that the printer is compatible with any rigid printing materials of upto 100 mm thickness.

UK-based Morgana opts for Graphics Square Pvt Ltd, Mumbai as their sales and service partner for India. The latter would handle the entire range of Morgana’s finishing systems and equipments, which include auto folding machines, auto creaser, numbering, CardXtra cutter, digibook binding, digicoater, documaster pro, etc. Graphics Square is part of Malhotra Group, founded by NP Malhotra in the year 1966 with consumables business in the graphic arts industry.
