Headphone Zone gets branded in SMITTEN way

Using some complicated analysis and planning, various media channels, a whole lot of creativity and a tea break, Chennai-based creative service studio SMITTEN creates branding strategies that leave everyone…well…smitten! SMITTEN believes that every brand has a story to tell; and so was how the creative team of the company used their eccentricity and a little bit of skill to showcase the story of ‘Headphone Zone’ better and mesmerising. Providing right from brand identity to communication designs, SMITTEN has finally made the headphone store quite engaging, inspiring and ‘smitten’.

Logo creation

Ferrari Video approached SMITTEN for a brand identity of its first Headphones Retail Brand in Asia -- the proposed name for which was ‘Headphone Zone’. SMITTEN created an identity where the type-play on ‘D’ frames the word ‘Head’, and appears as though the word itself has a pair of headphones on.

Basic move

Once SMITTEN had the identity in place, the creative team had to create signage for the flagship Headphone Zone. The store space is in a leading mall, but in an unconventional area, and the signage had to be made attractive enough to draw people in.

Arresting signage

SMITTEN carried forward the element of the ‘headphone’ from the identity, and extended it to create a giant pair of headphones. The exciting part of this signage, apart from the sheer size, was the fact that customers would enter the store through the arch formed by the headphones.

Methodology and materials

As a start-up, Headphone Zone was on a tight budget, so the headphone signage had to be well within means. SMITTEN implemented the overall display and signage solutions in an epitomic manner. The design file of the headphone was printed out to life size and was pasted on acrylic sheets. The size panels were handcrafted from acrylic sheets using a hairdryer and lights were inserted inside to create a large 3D headphone light-box signage.
