Sign Today 2010 chisels impressive impressions

Setting new milestones in products and technologies fronts, the twin events of Sign India 2010 from July 9-11 at Palace Ground, Bangalore and July 23-25 at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai developed a buoyancy to thrust business in the country’s signage segment. Buysell Interactions organised the international trade exhibitions on indoor/outdoor advertising by signifying the two south Indian cities as ideal venues to represent the region’s potential for signage industry. SIGN & GRAPHICS reports who and what made the expos an overwhelming affair for both exhibitors and visitors.


Concurrent with Sign Today 2010 were other value-added relevant shows, namely Digital Ad Today (an exhibition for LED, digital signage and advertising), Shop & Store Sign Expo (an exhibition for interior and exterior sign solutions) in Chennai; and Screen & Textile Printing Expo (exhibition for screen, textile/garment and digital printing industry) in Bangalore supported by Tirupur Export Knit Printers Association (TEKPA).

Exhilarated exhibitors

More than 50 exhibitors from different fragments of the industry showcased their products and services in both Chennai and Bangalore editions of the show. Vigorous visitor traffic

Exhibitors at Sign India 2010 were overwhelmed with the traffic of quality visitors to the shows. The data obtained from the registration office confirmed a wide spectrum of potential visitors came from the relative clusters in the industry, such as advertising agencies, sign makers, graphic designers, indoor/outdoor advertising professionals, marketing professionals, promotional product manufacturers, consumer product manufacturers, garment and textiles printers, industrial product manufacturers, screen printers, POP material fabricators, corporate organisations and others.

New business boost

Eventually evident at the expos was that there is great need for innovation and invention in the advertising and signage industry in the Indian subcontinent. Smart businesses need to position themselves to capitalise on the contemporary market scenario to move their trades forward. Both the shows were of great success, where the exhibitors felt that it was a perfect platform to showcase their products and services. Similarly, visitors to the shows were impressed with the offering of the industry’s latest technologies and products under one roof. The exhibitors have confirmed their participation as they booked stalls for the next editions of Sign Today 2011 scheduled from July 1-3 at Palace Grounds, Bangalore and May 6-8 at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai.

SGIA stages record-breaking 2010 expo

Visitors at the recent SGIA 2010 Expo held from October 13-15 at Las Vegas Convention Centre discovered new ideas, cutting-edge technologies and key industry contracts. These unique traits attributed the three-day graphic imaging event that recorded a total registration of 21,956 as a new SGIA record. Exhibitors from 487 companies staged products and technologies comprising high-production inkjet systems, direct-to-garment digital printers, sustainable process chemicals and products, among others to mark the expo a platform for new industry advancements.


Most diverse range of new technologies, market trends and business strategies for the specialty imaging community was the main highlight at the SGIA 2010 Expo, Las Vegas, NV. The expo attended by the foremost industry players from all over the world marked 39.8 percent of first time attendees who found the exhibition as a gateway to the global imaging marketplace. During the expo, attendees and exhibitors alike had conceived the opportunity to experience the broadest range of advanced, creative applications and total imaging solutions driven by the latest products and technologies in the specialty imaging industry.

In this edition, total size of the expo floor was 184,060 sq ft, up 30,000 sq ft from last year. Participants from all around the globe experienced one-of-a-kind booth demonstrations, hard-hitting educational sessions and unique networking opportunities during the expo. Success of the expo was largely accredited to Platinum sponsors of the event: Hewlett Packard, AGFA Graphics, Durst Image Technology and EFI as long as the Gold sponsors: INX Digital International Co and Roland DGA Corporation.

This year, SGIA also presented its first-ever Pre-Expo Business Development Conference on October 12, the day before the expo floor opened. The exclusive programme, featuring nationally recognised business authors and speakers, demonstrated every attendee the way to immediately implement unconventional business tactics to boost their bottom line.

SGIA Expos are considerably the most perfect meeting place to meet new people from different corners of the signage industry or to catch up with those old friends, in a true Vegas way! The next 2011 SGIA Expo will be held in New Orleans from October 19-21.

Stage set for 18th Printing South China, Guangzhou

Having been one of the most influential international printing exhibitions in China over the last 17 years, yet another edition of South China International Exhibition on Printing Industry (Printing South China) is all set to stage in a big way. The 18th edition of the mega trade exhibition will be held from March 09-11, 2011 at China Import & Export Fair Pazhou Complex, Guangzhou, PR China.


The three-day 18th Printing South China expo will be organised by authoritative governmental parties and experienced event organisations including Administration of Press and Publication of Guangdong Province, China Foreign Trade Centre (Group), Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd and Guangdong Provincial Publishing Group. Last edition of the expo in 2010 occupied 45,000 sq m with the participation of 627 exhibitors from 16 countries/regions, attracting 45,362 professional visitors from 91 countries/regions as well as more than 60 delegations formed by local and overseas associations and enterprises.

Perpetuating its excellence of the past, the upcoming edition is expected to reach 60,000 sq m of exhibition area with around 900 exhibitors. Being the very first printing exhibition of China for the year 2011, the show will unfold the most extensive showcase of state-of-the-art technologies and solutions. The show would be divided into six special theme zones that include digital printing zone, pre-press zone’ printing ink/consumables/materials & accessories zone and others. Each zone will focus on a specific printing category where different printing equipments and accessories would be categorised by its nature and displayed to bring in a unique range of showcase.

Development of low-carbon green economy, cycling economy, as well as motivating social transformation on increasing low-carbon practice has become the key components of economic development. In response to the government, Printing South China also endeavours to promote the concept of ‘low-carbon green printing’ to the industry. The organisers will invite professionals from governmental and technical sectors for expertise and strategic sharing on low-carbon printing as well as technological demonstration on the latest low-carbon products.

Sign Asia Expo 2010 highlights prospective future

Thailand’s foremost international signage exhibition, Sign Asia Expo 2010, brought on stage the latest range of service, technologies and machines to present a new prospect in the industry. The mega trade expo was held in conjunction with Digital Sign Asia 2010 at Impact in Bangkok, Thailand from October 14-17, 2010. SIGN & GRAPHICS gives a glimpse of the show covering extensive innovations in wide-format digital printing and OOH media.


Sign Asia Expo 2010 opened its doors to the new markets between Thailand and overseas entrepreneurs. The seventh edition of the exhibition built a platform to exchange knowledge and experience through seminars, trainings and other activities. With an aim to push Thailand as a strategic hub of signage industry in South East Asia, the fair was strongly supported by government bodies and related associations like Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Asia Sign Association (ASA), Advertising Sign Producing Association (ASPA), Thai Inkjet Club (TIC), etc.

Visitors from 33 countries including India, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Australia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and others attended the expo wherein a number of leading international and Thai companies exhibited in around 540 booths for Sign Asia Expo and more than 160 booths for Digital Sign Asia. The new zone of ‘Printing Innovation’ at the show staged innovative printing and materials processing technologies.

Products of global heavyweights like Hewlett-Packard (HP), Avery Dennison, MacTac, Orafol, 3M, Roland DG, Epson along with leading Thai companies, such as BK Soft Image Technology, BPS United, Eastech Digital Technology, etc took the center stage in varied domains of large-format printers, laser engravers, reflective materials, inks, vinyl, etc. Companies showing magic of innovative OOH media displays for video wall, touch screen monitor included LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, SVOA Public, etc.
