Tom Hanks-starred latest Hollywood blockbuster Angels & Demons steeping in secrets and ancient intrigue comes to life in dramatic poster display promotion by Big3D.com, one of the world leaders in 3D lenticular printing. The company distributed two different posters in more than 600 backlit 27x40-inch sizes at theatres across the US to promote the Ron Howard-directed movie. The large lobby display of a stone gargoyle (half-angel, half-demon) glaring menacingly against a gloomy sky seems to reach out to hasten the pulse of every passer-by. As the poster is 3D and animated, when you move past the poster the image of the gargoyle changes from good to evil, highlighting the plot of the movie. First campaign on Hammersmith Tower

One reason that makes Molson Coors proud is that the company being the first client to advertise on Clear Channel Outdoor UK’s stunning Hammersmith Tower. Targeting inbound and outbound traffic on this key route from Heathrow to Central London, Molson displays two Mega 6 advertisements for its Carling beer brand at this new architect-designed giant structure, which can be viewed from the Hammersmith Flyover.

This runs across new media from the phenomenally successful ‘ipint’ application, the company developed for the ‘iphone’ to being the first to advertise on new outdoor mega-structures such as the Hammersmith Tower, according to Martin Coyle, brand director of Carling.


Creation of sky by Junker & Mullers’ Mediatex Presto

Junker & Mullers’ Mediatex Presto—a water-repellent and water-proof textile—has proved its might to create one of the world’s stunning designs when the 500 sq m ceiling area of the indoor skiing arena Skihalle in Neuss, Germany had to be re-decorated recently. The printable textile was amazingly used to restyle the hall’s ceiling into a design of a mouthful of ‘sky’. Free from any stains even after years of installation, Mediatex Presto is stretchable and can therefore be easily installed into the existing internal ceiling frame system.

High-grade print brilliance guarantees outstanding image results where a photo-realistic representation of a sky that is covering the entire catering and entrance area of the ski hall with beautiful fair-weather clouds. Mediatex Presto can be easily printed with all solvent, eco-solvent and UV-hardened inks as well.


Arlon wraps truck to promote NASCAR race

Arlon, a leading manufacturer of full line of high-quality pressure sensitive cut vinyl, flexible substrates and print media films for digital imaging, signage, vehicle graphic and screen printing, recently sponsored NASCAR Premier of the Auto Club Speedway. The Global Group located in South California wrapped ten tractor-trailer trucks using Arlon’s DPF 6000X, a two-mil cast film with X-scape Technology and Series 3220 Overlaminate. The trucks were out on the road promoting NASCAR Race in California that happens once a year. Arlon is excited to have had the opportunity to sponsor such a high-profile race by supplying Arlon’s top of the line DPF 6000X, an air-egress vehicle wrap film.


HP allows Mir Reklamy to
produce Russia’s largest wall billboard




Inventive and eye-catching billboard advertising BMW’s M Series can be seen on Russia’s largest wall located on Moskva River embankment, next to Kremlin in Moscow. A big applause goes to HP Scitex Grand printers with which Moscow-based Mi Reklamy printed the 6,000 sq m frontlit billboard on behalf of its client News Outdoor. The billboard has been designed so that at night the cars’ headlights create the illusion that they are driving along the wall.

Mir Reklamy printed the billboard on a 520g/ sq m frontlit banner material using four HP Scitex Grand printers, which managed to produce the entire billboard in just five days. The HP Scitex Grand prints at speeds up to 65m sq per hour, offering users a non-stop production system for high reliability and maximum productivity, ideal for the production of billboards, wall coverings, truck-side curtains floor and window graphics, backdrops and vehicle wraps.

Radically utilizing Neschen Wallpaper Classic, Neschen Floor Graphic and Taklite see-through film printed on Epson Stylus Pro GS 6000 with ColorGate RIP, showroom of Starleaton in Sydney wears an amazing look that could make visitors feel like entering a quaint German village via a tropical rain forest. The delightful ambience in the showroom of the Australia’s leading supplier of materials, equipment, software and service to the wide-format printing and finishing sector was designed by the company’s Colour and RIP specialist, Walter Palombini. It’s so real; one could almost sit down at a table in the marketplace and on the cobblestone floor. The pictures tell the story; even the windows have flowerpots on the sills. One might say ‘the curtains aren’t drawn – but the flowers are!’


First billboard made of plastic bags

Believe it or not! Nedbank recently erected a billboard made of 2000 plastic bags at OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg. The plastic bags were collected and woven together by seven self-employed crafters to create the 40 sq m ‘canvas’ on which Nedbank and its advertising agency partner Network BBDO spread a message of commitment to the preservation of the environment— ‘Only One Bank Can Truly Call Itself The Green Bank.’

It took six weeks to produce the plastic billboard and was a big challenge to the crafters who had never made anything larger than doormat before. This is the third in the Nedbank series of billboards where the first being the solar panel billboard that powers up a kitchen in Alexander and won the top international honour at the 2006 Cannes Advertising Award. Then came the second solar billboard with a wind turbine placed in Cape Mission School, Cape Town.


Giant signage from HP at Winter Olympics 2009

Organisers of the World Winter Olympic Games 2009 ventured into new mission to ‘green the Games’ this year recognising that if they could responsibly produce 50,000sq ft of signage, they could make significant progress to their goal. In need of durable signage printed with the environment in mind, the World Winter Olympics Games turned to corporate sponsor Hewlett-Packard (HP).

From providing directions to creating an ambiance that energises fans and athletes alike, the giant signage printed by HP plays a vital role in the forthcoming 2009 Games to be held in Boise. Using HP Designjet L65500 and HP Scitex FB6100, the signage is durable enough to withstand even the harshest winter conditions.
