As a part of the DIAL Hospitality District up-gradation proposal designed by Kuiper Compagnons, Version Absolute Design Studio (VADS) was a part of a large multinational team of designers working on developing a comprehensive master plan and design scheme for the landscape areas of the district. The design firm has designed the complete way finding and information sign design system for the DIAL district. And as a part of their sign design scope, they specified
an overall district art strategy.
Kuiper Compagnons has been commissioned by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) for the beautification and optimisation of the public areas of
Aerocity at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), Delhi, India. Aerocity at IGIA has been developed as the largest hospitality hub not just in Delhi but for the entire country.
The city hosts 11 hotels with a combined shopping mall, office and entertainment complex located in the centre of the area. Under beautification works, the major task is to create magnificent landscapes. The scope of work is varied and also covers advertising, sponsored artworks, events and commercial programming. The client envisages a world-class, iconic design with a truly unique character that identifies the growing airport city, as one of the places to see on the global airport stage.
Theme and sign panels
Theme panels in the way-finding systems are designed to display graphic theme. In this, VADS used famous indigenous painting styles of India. The sign panels are made of stainless steel and enamel painted aluminium cabinet construction with embedded detail in wood to add an element of craft.
Dynamic maps
There are dynamic information panels in outdoor grade LCD screens. The panels can display a whole host of information. From events and attractions to happenings in the DIAL Hospitality District are displayed on the panels. Displayed in the secondary info panel are secondary information such as amenities.
In the development map, info-graphics are used to illustrate the complete development highlighting all points of interest within. Talent list consists of all the brands and services within.
Materials used
Signage is made of precast concrete base, which can be printed branding details. There are wooden insert within the sign cabinet layers.
