APPPEXPO 2018 opens up new synergies
in signage technologies


Filled with fresh vitalities involving innovations in sign making and printing, APPPEXPO 2018 under its new strategy ‘One Belt One Road’ has showcased a string of new products, technologies and ideas. With its increasing international influence, the expo continually attracts overseas participants and visitors, including many from India. The 26th edition of the expo was organised from March 28-31, 2018 at National Exhibition & Convention Center in Shanghai.

Organsied by Shanghai Modern International Exhibition Co Ltd, China Sign Association of Equipment Suppliers, Shanghai Gray Exhibition Co Ltd, and Shanghai Advertising Association, APPPEXPO 2018 this year has set a new platform showing top brands from all over the world and the Chinese market. Among the show stoppers at the expo were some of the leading Indian companies, whose products are now popular and acclaimed globally for their competencies par with international brands. ColorJet India and AT Inks from India were among the key crowd pullers at the expo.

As the signage business is shifting towards UV, ColorJet India at the expo introduced two new UV products—VERVE HYBRID and VULCAN. The company also showcased its soft signage system, SOFTJET GRAND. With its 10x6 ft flatbed size, VERVE HYBRID offers a possibility to print on a 10 ft roll-to-roll media. While ColorJet VULCAN is a high speed 3.2 m UV LED roll-to-roll printer, empowered with the V8 technology and automatic ink regulator.

Smarth Bansal, Sr Product Manager, ColorJet India, said they have efficiently pursued excellence in digital printing since 2004, as 4,000 machines have installed worldwide, from Australia to Europe. Textile printing combined with cuttingedge digital techniques and traditional inkjet technology gained a new ground at APPPEXPO 2018, representing a new milestone of innovations and future of graphic art applications. Many key exhibitors at the expo presented the advancement of textile and dyeing techniques, signifying faster production time, lower energy consumption and eco-friendliness. Those into textile have created unprecedented opportunities for traditional inkjet printing companies to collaborate with the new technology. Among the big brands pulling crowd at APPPEXPO 2018 from the global arena and the local Chinese market were EFI, HP Inc, MUTOH, XAAR, Dilli, SENFA, Docan, WIT-COLOR, Allwin, Roland DG, EPSON, AGFA Graphics, FUJIFILM Dimatix, DPI, NAR, ADDTOP, UV Ink, Hapond, Flora, Crystal, Keundo, Deruisen, Sprinter, Accutek, Gongzheng, Unifol, Alucosun, Nano, among others.

XAAR demonstrated the prowess and possible applications of its XAAR 1201 printhead at the expo. The company’s strong presence in the expo this year is largely the result of their partnership with Guangzhou Hao Cheng International in Greater China. The application and integration expertise of the Chinese partner is helping OEMs bring to market graphics, industrial and textiles printers with the versatile XAAR 1201 printhead.

EFI marked the China debut of its VUTEk 5r LED RTR inkjet printer during the expo. For the first time, the company showcased the most technically advanced roll-to-roll printer, which offers excellent image quality high throughput speeds. EFI VUTEk 5r provides customers with a large range of options to offer a low total cost of ownership. One of its impressive features includes: Maxed-out speed with throughput up to 460 sq m/hour.
