3M ‘voyages’ across India to unveil new products

Heralding bon voyage to its customers for a quest of new fortune, 3M India Limited recently unpacked a new set of comprehensive products introduced through a chain of launch sessions organised in six major cities of Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi from June 29-July 23, 2010. The newly unfurled 3M Panalite flex banners and IJ series vinyl films are designed to deliver a new quality to the Indian graphic industry. Involved as a media partner, SIGN & GRAPHICS undertook an exclusive coverage of the whole episodes of the fun-filled launch programmes attended by huge crowds of 3M authorised converters, print service providers, machine manufacturers and others.




Gratifying applause cheered the new 3M Panalite flex banners and 3M IJ vinyl films launched recently in a series of sessions held in Bengaluru (June 29), Chennai (July 1), Hyderabad (July 2), Kolkata (July 21) and New Delhi (July 23). The line of new products added by 3M included Planite Frontlit Banner 10oz, 13oz; Panalite Backlit Banner 15oz, 18oz; 3M IJ1129 OWV; 3M IJ1110 Gloss; and 3M IJ1110-10 Matte respectively. In his speech at the New Delhi leg of the nationwide launch sessions, K A Appiah, general manager, Commercial Graphics Division, 3M India conveyed the company’s progressive role in other industrial sectors, in addition to the graphic industry.

“One person out of four in our day-to-day activities is positively connected with 3M products,” said Appiah while narrating about the company’s role in making common items/commodities like car, household items, medical products, etc. The company thus makes its brawny presence in the graphic printing industry too. Appiah further narrated the genesis of 3M dating back to 1902 in Minnesota, which was then called Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company. He also recounted the company’s inception of India division in the year 1988. Appreciating the rapid development witnessing across the country’s graphic industry, Appiah mentioned, “You (3M customers) are the ones who walked along with us to complete our journey. ”

Sunil Muralidharan, marketing & business development manager, Display & Graphics Bangalore Unit, 3M India Ltd articulated the unique features of the new products unveiled during the nationwide launch sessions. Elaborating the unique identities of the newly introduced banner flex and vinyl films, he divulged 3M’s coherent endeavour to help its customers find new pace in their business. Newly introduced 3M IJ1129 OWV is designed for one-way vision while 3M IJ1110 Gloss and 3M IJ1110-10 Matte are white self-adhesive vinyl films available in 50 m length. And the Panalite series are ideal for both frontlit and backlit banners.



In addition to the new launches, 3M displayed a gallery showing high-quality SC 7725-324 glass decoration film, wall graphic solution IJ 3552 overlaminate, wallgraphic solution IJ1220 overlaminate, OL8520 matte for sunboard and laminate; 8519 gloss for direct to wall; wall graphic solution IJ 1110-10 Gloss for short- term promotion; textile surface IJ 8624 for rough/textured surface, etc.

End of the launch programmes were marked with fun and frolic sessions to entertain the visitors. Ranjit De, product manager, 3M India Ltd hosted the concluding parts in which he enthused the crowds with the announcement of 3M’s loyalty programme. Voyage… ‘The quest for fortune’ was the theme of the loyalty programme opened to all print service providers who purchase 3M media from 3M authorised distributors. The buyers are supposed to win points on ‘every’ purchase and printers with maximum redemption by March 31, 2011 will be invited at the 3M Channel Partner Meet next year.
