IPEX South Asia briefing day… well attended

IIR Exhibitions Ltd, the organizers of IPEX South Asia recently organised a briefing day at India Expo Centre, Expo XXI, Greater Noida, Expressway, New Delhi, the same venue where the event will take place from October 24-27, 2007. The briefing session kicked off with the introduction of IPEX South Asia team by Trevor Crawford, exhibition director, which included Oliver Robinson, account manager, Delhi; Rachael Stroud, marketing manager; Katie Morris, marketing executive; and Laura Plumbly, administrator. After this, Manoj Mehta, president, AIFMP, spoke about the support they are offering. “When we signed an official agreement to support IPEX South Asia, we had 48 associations, and today we are backed by the support of 52 associations and we expect this number to increase further,” said Manoj.

The briefing day was an ideal opportunity to meet the entire IPEX South Asia team and its servicing partners. At the show, booth designs and space options were also displayed.

Besides, SAPC - South Asia Printing Congress, a regular event, taking place in South Asia, is scheduled to be held in Pakistan, but AIFMP has plans to stage it in India, concurrent with IPEX South Asia, for which official release may be issued soon. If this happens, it will be a great boon for the IPEX South Asia.

Trevor gave an in-depth update of the show and straightened out all the possible queries. In his views, the lack of major Pan-regional graphic art event for India, this show dealing with Indian and South Asian issues, will definitely attract majority of major manufacturers and key Indian suppliers. The timings are also well thought, as it is the right time in the event calendar between IPEX and drupa.

The show venue, Expo XXI - India’s most modern exhibition venue with excellent accessibility, is situated just 45 minutes away from the city’s congested centre and 75 minutes from airport. Above all, EXPO XXI has got ample parking space for 8,000 cars and 200 trucks. IPEX also plans to provide transportation to visitors from the major city points including airports.

Rachael provided a sneak peek into IPEX marketing and PR campaign. The extensive campaign consisting of direct mail, email, advertising, inserts, online advertising, website, and SMS text messaging. They are investing on telemarketing, besides participating in all major upcoming industry shows.

Engrossing industry presentations by Andrew Horne, MD, Xerox India, Vipin Tuteja, director, Production Systems Group, Xerox India and Lorraine Curling, business manager developing market operations, Xerox Corporation; Nagesh Katuturi, lead country manager, Hewlett Packard India; and Som Gangopadhyay, assistant director – imaging, Canon India, made the occasion all the more interesting. Andrew Horne, MD, Xerox India elaborated Xerox participation at IPEX South Asia. He explained that Xerox will exhibit largest range of products and applications ever shown by them in South Asia, with 500 m2 space, possibly they will have the largest stand, and may display iGen3 as well.

Nagesh Katuturi said that HP will run live demonstrations of their latest machines and innovations. The display shall include printing options ranging from visiting card to billboards.

Som Gangopadhyay, Canon started off with the excellent results of the company and recent achievements including 154th global ranking in total sales and 96th global ranking in profits as Fortune Global 500 company. They will launch ImagePRESS C7000 VP and new technology - elastic image transfer belt.

Kosala Thilakaratne, president, Sri Lanka Association of Printers (SLAP) had come all the way from down south to attend this event. This added to the possibility of having a dedicated pavilion of Sri Lanka, which will be equally supporting the show.

All attendees were then taken around the halls in which the show will be held. They all admired the facilities and outlook of the halls, which are at par with any international venue. The event concluded with great hopes and aspirations for this coming event…come October and doors to grandeur will open up!
