Short-duration signages: money spinner?

New trends sweeping across the industry are gaining ground for some fresh impetus of signages in different aspects. Apart from the gradual progression in traditional ways of billboards and hoardings or durable signages like POP, store-front and in-shop displays, it has been quite evident that short-duration/temporary signages have paved a new and distinguished path in the industry. Be it for exhibitions, seminars, anniversaries, cultural or religious events, expos or anything temporary, short-duration signages have started playing a pivotal role.

Let’s see the way that developing countries like India have been picking up the trend of organising trade fairs over the last few decades or so. Whenever there is an expo, signages of all kinds, all sizes – extra-large or mini-in-size are seen in plenty. These could be for guiding visitors around the exhibition arenas, indicating parking area, first aid or any of the information that need to be communicated with the general public effectively apart from the individual exhibitors’ own displays. Adoption of short-duration signages in the market has opened up new business aspects for those who have been engaged in such activities.

Is it not the right time for the sign makers to explore such new business prospects in the market as our calendar is dotted with uncountable number of festivals and holy places all around keep hosting religious carnivals throughout the year? In fact, short-duration sign systems have a bigger way to follow up. To all fellow industry professionals, this is the opportunity to dig up with such newfound treasure to mint good revenue in businesses, but there’s precise need to keep these signs with low cost, lightweight and easy to drill or punch on site.

Though we had covered Chennai a few years ago, this south Indian city is again a focus under Region Exclusive in this issue. The city has come out as distinguished vicinity where signage players think or work something differently from what others usually do. Ever since the day when Supreme Court declared ban on hoardings and billboards in this city, every player has shifted to new alternatives in domains like retail and indoor/in-store signages. This is certainly inspiring! Also spotlighted in the story is the city of Coimbatore where signage players are heading to innovative fronts, expecting to unearth huge business potential. We wish them good business ahead!
