Lively flowers bring print to life in London

PressOn, a leading large-format digital printing and installation firm in Kent, replicated ‘A Still Life of Flowers in a Wan-Li Vase’ painting with thousands of buds. In the reproduction process of the historic art work, the printing firm churned 20x15 ft replica of the 17th century Dutch painting, which was commissioned by the Flower Council of Holland to promote the Dutch Flower Exhibition at London’s National Gallery. The display lasted for five days and it would both hold and irrigate 26,500 real flowers was one such challenge in the project. For the printed graphic, PressOn chose Sihl 3687 TriSolv PostArt blue-backed poster paper, which worked well to hold in water, keeping the flowers fresh. Using an HP Latex 3500 printer, a few panels of Berger Be.tex Genius M1 Canvas were printed and trimmed them using a Kongsberg XP cutter to create 30,000 slits to hold every single individual flower.

Andy Murray Virtually turned into magnificent comic superhero

British tennis champion Andy Murray had become comic book superhero in a new campaign from Under Armour at Waterloo promoting the sport star’s return to the Aegon Championships. Under Armour has commissioned prominent DC and Marvel comic book artist David Boller to create a superhero identity of tennis hero which dominates the IMAX advertising canvas for weeks. Swiss artist Boller, who has drawn Spider-Man, X-Men and Batman, has created the images of a towering Murray standing in front of the London’s most iconic landmark. The artwork shows the world number one wearing a red, white and blue Under Armour kit which the US brand created specifically for Queens.
