SMK Digital leads the way

Mission statement of SMK Digital is defined to be clear, honest and accurate in whatever they have pulled off so far in distributorship of machines and materials. This Mumbai-based distributor of a string of high-quality digital large-format printers and consumables like inks has roped in a good number of big signage gurus under its belt in west India and other parts of the country. SMK Digital knows the market pulse of both domestic and international markets as the company walks hand-in-hand with world leaders (distributors) to cater the best or most standard range of products to its customers. SIGN & GRAPHICS compiles a brief sketch of the pragmatic past and present of SMK Digital.

Incepted in the year 2008, SMK Digital kick-started its business with sole distributorship of high-end FUJIFILM Sericol inks in the Indian market. Then the company constantly surged to a new high in their business pushing towards new tasks like distributorship of digital large-format printing machines. “We are considerably the first distributor in India who understands the market pulse concentrating on refurbished super-wide-format digital printers like EFI VUTEk,” admitted Mukesh Patel adding that the company is now operating under three business verticals – acquisition of signage equipments and consumables; advisors and facilitators for acquisitions; and maintenance and support at all India level.

In order to acquire the best or most up-to-date range of machineries and consumables in their product line, SMK Digital goes for unique process to identify standards of the printers (such as EFI VUTEk, Scorpion, etc) imported from all over the world. “In order to check quality and standard of the products, our company representatives visit the operational sites to inspect the precisions of the printers beforehand,” mentioned Mukesh. He further added that SMK Digital would eventually inspect all possible quality checks before dispatching the machines to India.

That is not the end of SMK Digital’s quality control of their line of products. The company boasts of its team of trained engineers who thoroughly check all machines right after the shipment. “Whenever we deliver EFI VUTEk printer to our customer, it is quite mandatory that an authorised support staff from VUTEk would help in installation and future maintenance/servicing of the printer,” said Mukesh. SMK Digital moves forward with a firm philosophy to always create a win-win situation among manufacturers, customers and distributors alike.

Quality customers

Acceleration in the overall growth of SMK Digital is substantiated by a number of factors, which include support from its prominent clients. Having said that any point is a reference, Mukesh further explained that they are proud to be associated with such big clients who always set new milestones in quality and excellent service. Viajs Digital India Pvt Ltd, Colorart Digital, Liberty Graphics Pvt Ltd, Avenue Graphics Pvt Ltd, Arihant Graphics Pvt Ltd, Kanika Digital Pvt Ltd and Sai Krupa Photo Offset Pvt Ltd are some of the regular and prominent customers of SMK Digital.

“Since we have branches in Delhi, Kolkata and Gawahati, we could spread our presence in a wider scale covering different parts of the country,” asserted Mukesh. He added that SMK Digital has so far been roped in more than 150 customers located in different parts of India.

Retention programme

SMK Digital believes that being a facilitator for machine maintenance and support is quite an important aspect of its Customer Retention Programme. The company has assigned field engineers, who had been trained in-house, in the cities of Delhi and Kolkata for any kind of technical supports to the customers. “Mumbai and Delhi are considered to be two hot hubs where new prospects in signage have been growing pre-dominantly,” remarked Mukesh. Supported by VUTEk, SMK Digital implements Refurb Maintenance Programme as one of the most constructive customer care schemes developed internationally through Protek (an EFI VUTEk distributor).

Yet another domain where SMK Digital has been known for its distributorship is the string of high-quality inks catering to a number of clients. Concerning the company’s policy to embark upon the forefront of any technological or machinery development, Mukesh mentioned that SMK Digital has paved the ways to let others follow for market progression.

It continues…

Growth at SMK Digital is just a continuing process, not a one-time achievement! The company’s total turnover of Rs 4.5 crore in the beginning has magnified to multiple increase over the last few years. “Today, our turnover touches a figure of Rs 14.5 crore and we are hoping to magnify it further soon,” revealed Mukesh. Highlighting the company’s achievement this year, he further asserted that 34 printers have been delivered to PSPs and looking ahead to make the figure 50.

SMK Digital is now milling inks at an average volume of 10,000 litres per month. “We are eying all possible angles to intensify our overall activities whether it could be in machines or consumables,” said Mukesh. And most of all, recent shifting of their office to a new and expanded facility in Goregaon (East) from the erstwhile Andheri (East) setup in Mumbai has multiplied the company’s vigour in all activities.
