Smithers Pira predicts textile printing
to gain 17.5 percent annual growth


Digital textile printing, according to Smithers Pira, in the period 2016-2021 will be hitting a 17.5 percent annual growth, making the sector one of the promising domains. The research report titled The Future of Digital Textile Printing to 2021 values this global market at €1.17 billion in 2016 with a growth forecast at an annual average of 12.3 percent. This will see the market more than double in value over the next five years, reaching €2.42 billion by 2021. Smithers Pira’s exclusive analysis tracks how this will drive an even more rapid increase in the volume of fabric printed with inkjet printing technologies.




Avery Dennison acquires Israeli
pressure-sensitive company Hanita Coatings


Avery Dennison has announced its acquisition of Hanita Coatings, an Israeli manufacturer of pressure-sensitive specialty films and laminates. Headquartered in Israel with sales and distribution branches across the US, Germany, China, and Australia, Hanita Coatings develops and manufactures coated, laminated, and metalised polyester films for an array of industrial and commercial applications. The company’s window films are widely used in architectural and automotive aftermarkets.

According to a source from the company, Hanita Coatings is now looking forward to leverage its strong global footprints and established their brand to help accelerate its product commercialisation around the world. In addition to product expansion, Hanita Coatings’ culture of innovation and long-standing commitment to R&D are a strong fit with its 80-year history of innovation in materials science. Currently employing more than 220 professionals, most of whom are located at the company’s headquarters in Israel’s Western Galilee, this three-decade-old company generates sales in more than 40 countries.

Research shows global digital signage
market to reach US$20 billion by 2020


Market research firm Hexa Research, according to Canadian company Sign Media, has reported an estimation that the global digital signage market will grow to about US$20 billion by the year 2020, much of which will presumably come from the existing wide-format sector. The research company estimates the digital signage market was worth approximately $13.3 billion in 2013 and is currently enjoying a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.1 percent, thanks to such positive factors as improved user experience (UX), price reductions for digital display panels and continued advances in product development. Geography-wise, Asia-Pacific (APAC) region has the highest potential.




Blue Cap AG acquires Neschen

With effect from December 01, 2016, Neschen Coating GmbH has become a subsidiary of Blue Cap AG, a listed Munich-based company with its specialisation in further development of medium-sized technology-driven companies whilst preserving their corporate identity. The new company has taken over the complete staff of Neschen and continued business operations to the full extent. Preparations for this was started on July 01, 2016 and have been processing with the transfer of operations. Now, the subsidiaries of the Neschen trade organisation, Filmolux in Benelux, Germany, France, Italy and Austria were transferred entirely to Neschen Coating GmbH.




Messe Düsseldorf ties up with
In-store Asia to create Excosa


EuroShop Düsseldorf, an international trade fair in the retail sector, is entering the Indian market, aiming at the opportunity emerging with the country’s economic strength and fast growing retail sector with a volume of US$500 billion. Under the umbrella of ‘Mall of Europe Powered by EuroShop’, organiser Messe Düsseldorf has now sealed a close, long-term co-operation deal with In-Store Asia. Together they have formed a new company called Excosa with equal participation between Messe Düsseldorf India and In-store Asia. The formal agreement was signed by both the parties on November 23, 2016 in New Delhi. Under Excosa, all Retail Design and In-store Marketing domain related events will be conducted. From February 2018 on, In-Store Asia will be organised annually in alternating locations between New Delhi and Mumbai.

In-Store Asia is a Retail Fair for Retail Designs and In-Store Marketing in the Indian subcontinent; and it has been instrumental in bringing the Indian Retail Design and In-Store Marketing community onto a common platform, enabling them in keeping pace with the global trends, innovations and developments for over a decade. “In-Store Asia now joins the family of EuroShop, which has been the undisputed leader in this domain for the last five decades”, said Vasant Jante, founder & MD of In-Store Asia. featured at FESPA Eurasia 2016


All designed to address key print production needs, Mimaki at the recent FESPA Eurasia 2016, held at Istanbul in Turkey from December 08-11, unpacked its latest range of innovations comprising solvent, textile and UV printers. Creative sign and display as well as industrial capabilities were the focused areas the company did shed some light on, showing latest possibilities in the textile world. The company also showcased UV flatbed printers of diverse sizes, which comprised its recently launched Mimaki UJF-3042MkII with LH100 UV ink that prints on flat surfaces, acrylic and aluminium compound boards.

Mimaki also showcased its UJF-7151plus UV inkjet flatbed printer which is ideal for operations that produce a wide variety of applications, including a broad array of objects such as promotional items, personalised giftware, small to medium-format signage and display panels. Also, on the showcase was Mimaki JFX200-2513 printer with LUS-150 UV curable ink in CMYK, white and clear, enabling visitors to experience how the unique clear ink could also add texture for even more compelling products. Kornit Digital bags Hong Kong
Digital Printing Award 2016


Textile printing major Kornit Digital has recently bagged a silver-level ‘Hong Kong Digital Printing Award 2016 (Special Material Category)’ bestowed by the Hong Kong Digital Printing Association. The award was given in recognition of the colour vibrancy and print quality of the work submitted by Kornit Digital, which was a 100 percent polyester zipper vest printed on a Kornit Storm Hexa. The print job on the vest was the perfect challenge for one of Kornit’s most innovative printing systems, particularly because of its uneven surfaces in the seam and zipper areas. All Kornit’s direct-to-garment printing systems are equipped with an adjustable head height mechanism as users can easily adjust the system’s printheads to accommodate the thickness of substrates.




ESKO’s CorruSpeed tool cuts without ‘oscillating’

Newly launched CorruSpeed tool from ESKO is designed for cutting corrugated board without oscillating. According to a source from the company, the oscillating-free process will produce cleaner and more accurate cuts comparable to conventional die cutting. CorruSpeed is compatible with ESKO Kongsberg C Series, X Series, XP, and XE cutting tables. The tool can cut materials up to 7 mm. Some added features of the tool include a floating foot with spring-loaded, adjustable pressure in order to crush the liner and prevent it from cracking while the cut is made. It also features a side or top pressure gauge. ESKO has integrated solutions for diverse applications, ranging from signage and display, packaging and labels, commercial printing upto publishing.

ESKO appoints new sales director for South Asia

ESKO has appointed Arnab Maiti as its sales director-South Asia. To be based out of Mumbai, newly elected Arnab will head the current Esko South Asia sales team. Prior to his current position, he spent nearly 15 years in Kodak serving across various regional and national sales and business management roles. With diverse experience of selling capital equipments, software solutions and consumables, Arnab has worked all over India and its neighbouring geographies.
