Apsom Technologies (India) has been appointed as authorised dealer for Mimaki India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mimaki Engineering (Japan). Under the partnership, Apsom Technologies will distribute all products from the Mimaki stable across the East, West and North Indian regions. Apsom Technologies has a glorious history of long association with Mimaki in the Indian market. In the year 2003, when the brand Mimaki was not in mass popularity in the Indian signage market, it was Apsom Technologies that put in hard work, supported by Mimaki and welcomed by signage industry patrons, which in turn made the Japanese brand popular and became one to reckon with today.
Due to certain legal issue in the venture, there was slowdown of around two years between the two companies. Supported by the Indian Institute of Architecture (IIA), HP Inc India in association with Architecture + Design had recently organised Design Summit 2017 in Pune. The summit was attended by over 150 top architects along with several design experts. Focusing on innovations in architecture designs and new age design elements, the summit provided an unmatched opportunity for the attendees to witness innovations alongside a series of highly interactive sessions by veteran architects Brinda Somaya, founder, Somaya and Kalappa Consultants; and Christopher Benninger from Christopher Charles Benninger Architects.
At the summit, HP Inc India showcased their innovative large-format print product portfolio with the launch of HP DesignJet T830, a multi-function printer available with armoured casing. The new printer’s tough exterior casing makes it a preferred choice for on-site large-format printing for the armed forces, disaster management groups, engineering and construction, mining, oil and gas sectors. In addition, HP Inc India showcased its technical print portfolio for the AEC industry including T-120, Z 5600 and PageWide 4000 XL printers.

HP Inc has recently made the announcement of its attainment of 40,000 latex users worldwide since the company’s launch of the technology. This was revealed during a trade expo in Melbourne, Australia. So far, more than 40,000 HP Latex printers have been installed around the world.

Mimaki has announced that its original Sb54/310/410 and Sb320/420 sublimation inks have achieved the Eco-Passport certification. ECO PASSPORT from OEKO-TEX is a mechanism by which textile chemical suppliers demonstrate that their products can be used in sustainable textile production. It authenticates the safety of chemicals used during the production of textile dyes, pigments and finishing agents. The certifications cover each stage of raw materials, product and company environment.
EFI enters wood décor market
It was during the recent Ligna, an industrial trade fair on wood carving and designs at Hanover in Germany, EFI announced its new Cubik technology for industrial digital inkjet wood decoration. The newly introduced EFI Cubik technology machine for printing on wood offers both premium quality short-runs as well as high-speed, mass production of decorative surfaces for indoor and outdoor applications on diverse wood media. Based on EFI’s single-pass printing technology, the printer offers the wood industry top-quality decoration, maximum performance and ink saving.
Mathrubhumi launches unique
outdoor campaign on World No Tobacco Day in Kochi
Kerala’s formidable news media company Mathrubhumi Group has carried out campaign to spread anti-smoking message via a unique outdoor display installed at Vytilla Junction in Kochi on the World No Tobacco Day (May 31). Main objective of the campaign was to create awareness among public about the harmful effects of tobacco. Designed in a model of a ticking time bomb, the outdoor signage was made of a bunch of dynamites represented by cigarettes, which are PVC pipes wrapped with vinyl media and timer clocks are attached on both sides, making it look like a ‘Cigarette Bomb’ reminding general public about the after effect of smoking.
Created by Maitri Advertising in association with Kochi City Police, Corporation of Kochi and Mathrubhumi, the outdoor campaign has a punch line reading ‘Every second you smoke a cigarette you’re getting closer to death’. The underlying message in the caption suggests that smokers are like a ticking bomb. Mathrubhumi is a nine-decade-old Malayalam newspaper, which has been surged from letterpress to frontier advances in media, without sacrificing human values.
