All that designs
which Leaf Design
creates always work
innovatively, serving
purposes to the
fullest at the utmost
satisfactory levels of
their clients.
For their client
Capita Mall Asia,
this Mumbai-based
branding and design
consultancy firm
has recently rustled
up a way-finding
and signage design
project executed
in and around the
Forum Mall
in Mangalore.
Client’s Profile
Designed into a
futuristically constructed
shopping space, Forum
Mall built by Capital Mall
Asia is considered to be
one of the largest malls
in India with its size
measured around 650,000
sq ft in area. The mall is
known for availability of
anything under the sun—
from shoes to exercise
equipments, home
furnishings to electronic
goods, books to video
games—all dotted in
popular brands
as well as new ones.
First move
When Capital Mall Asia
approached Leaf Design for
the way-finding and signage
system for their chain of
Forum Malls in major cities of
the country, a big challenge
for the Leaf team was to
make the design standout
amidst the visual chaos and
engage the traffic with right
information. Inspired by the
term ‘Forum’ and its abstract
architecture based on
different blocks, the creative
team developed a grid-based
approach for the
project they have recently
accomplished in Mangalore.
Colours & designs
Suitably selected in
relevance to the vibrant
Indian palette to build
up relativity and an
atmosphere of celebration,
the Leaf team decided the
‘colour scheme’ should be
solid and bright, alluding
to the vivaciousness of
the mall surroundings.
The typography used in
way-finding directories and
overhead signs was bold to
reinforce the brand ethos
and exude prominence.
Together the system was
created to allow people to
immerse into the brand.
The grids and designs
were made adaptable
and scaleable for the
expanding network.
