Canon India launches high-quality
image projectors suitable for
digital signage
Redefining the Indian projector market, Canon India recently
launched a series of XEED projectors, designed for uses
in corporate houses, classrooms, medical labs (hospitals)
and digital signage. In his address at the recent launch event in
New Delhi, Kazutada Kobayashi, president & CEO, Canon India Pvt
Ltd said that people are using high-end Canon projectors to watch
movies, playing video games and, of course, digital signage. “These
new XEED Canon projectors are equipped with high quality optics
to cater to
such needs for
high definition
applications,”
he mentioned.

Canon Inc referred the XEED projectors being equipped with worldclass
technology and user-friendly features suitable for the Indian
market, in terms of optimum results delivered at minimum cost. In
a similar note, Parveen Sahni, director-projection products, Office
Imaging Solutions Centre, Canon India explained that they have also
introduced proprietary LCOS (liquid crustal on silicon) technology,
featured in XEED projectors, which make possible projections
that are free of ‘lattice effect’, a phenomenon in which a faint grid
pattern appears over the projected image.
3M adds 18 new colours to its car
wrap film series
xpanding its popular Car Wrap
Film Series 1080, 3M has added 18
trendy new colours bringing the total
number of finishes now available to 73 and
enabling a much wider choice of options for
vehicle customisation and personalisation. The
new colours comprise 12 gloss metallic and six satin formats, with
sparkling names such as Atlantis Blue, Fierce Fuchsia and Dragon
Fire Red in gloss metallic and Ocean Shimmer, Mystique Blue and
Canyon Copper in satin. 3M 1080 is a long-term removable duallayer
premium cast film that has been designed with sufficient
rigidity to enable easy handling. The films incorporate a combination
of 3M’s unique repositionable Controltac Adhesive with Comply
Version 3 Air Release Technologies that enable the applicator to
reposition the film until ideal registration has been achieved and
ensuring ultimate adhesion.
Canon announces new ink
for Arizona series
Canon announces the introduction of a new ink for its
Arizona series. The newly introduced ink will be shown to
the general public at FESPA 2015 in Cologne, Germany
and is customarily designed for Océ Arizona 300, 400 and 600
series printers with promises for strong adhesion to a wide range of
indoor and outdoor rigid and flexible media. Using the Océ Arizona
480GT UV flatbed printer, Canon will show the satin/matt finish,
the extensive colour gamut and outstanding adhesion qualities of
the new ink. The new ink will be priced in that same range as the
company’s existing inks.
Two new Durst Rhotex printers
introduced
Durst released two of its high-end industrial printers,
comprising dye sublimation ‘soft signage’ printer, a 72-inch
Rhotex 180 TR and P10 250HS. Main approach of the
company with the introduction of Rhotex 180 TR is to provide highquality
graphic prints on sportswear, home textiles, POP displays
and a variety of other fabric/textile output for which a width up to
six feet is sufficient.
Rhotex 180 TR is
the third and latest
component of our
leading Rhotex softsignage
platform, and it is the company’s first foray into transfer
printing. The second printer, Rho P10 250HS UV inkjet digital
flatbed printer is the most versatile and productive 10-picoliter
hybrid printer on the market. It features Durst’s Quadro Array 10M
Variodrop printheads with a very high nozzle count. They produce
an unrivalled ‘fine art’ print quality at a resolution of up to 1,000
dpi from a printer capable of running at output speeds of more than
4,000 sq ft /hr.
GMG releases OpenColor 2.0 with
new user interface
and added features
GMG announces the release of its multichannel profiling
software GMG OpenColor 2.0. Numerous new and optimised
features have been embedded into a powerful new interface
designed to make profiling more effortless and easy. Simplicity is
a challenge in a printing industry that is so incredibly challenging
itself: the sheer variety of printing technologies, spot colours,
substrates and many other activities. GMG OpenColor 2.0 comes
with a completely redesigned user-centrict interface. A projectbased
view allows more flexibility in handling measurement data and
creating profiles, while at the same time providing more safety in
terms of data control and transparency.
XAAR launches ‘larger drop’

GS12U printhead for UV printing
XAAR announces the launch of XAAR 1002 GS12U
printhead, its first larger drop printhead for UV applications.
This new printhead extends the XAAR 1002 family of
printheads, and gives the UV inkjet printing market a choice of
printheads to suit specific applications. The greyscale XAAR 1002
GS12U jets drop volumes
from 12-84 pico litre, enabling
a range of drop sizes to be
printed with a single printhead.
The large-drop capability of
this flexible printhead, combined
with XAAR’s patented TF
Technology ink recirculation,
makes it ideal for printing high-build spot varnishes and extraopaque
whites onto labels and direct-to-shape packaging (in both
horizontal and vertical printing modes). This newly introduced
XAAR printhead for UV application is attributed with high level of
opacity and production reliability achieved in a single pass without
resorting to multiple print bars. It complements the XAAR 1002
GS6 (6-42pL) variant for UV applications, launched last year.
Aslan introduces new selfadhesive
glass decoration films
Designed to provide fresh and modern
appearance, Aslan introduces
new Illustra range of glass films.
The transparent films are printed in three
attractive white designs ‘Linen’, ‘Dot’ and
‘Snow’. If applied in private or public
buildings, the Illustra films create decorative
sight protections and modern solutions for
dividing rooms without reducing the light transparency. They are
ideal for applications in offices, stores, seminar rooms, medical
centres, banks, hotels, restaurants, airports, etc. All attributes in
the films are made out of the state-of-the-art Aslan-Dryapply
technology. The films are printable with solvent, eco solvent, latex
and UV-curable inks as well as screen printing ink.
Mutoh launches new textileprinter
for T-shirt, hats,
workout apparels
Mutoh has introduced a new T-shirt printer—ValueJet
405GT. Users are now spoilt for choice with several OEMs
producing digital T-shirt printers and now Mutoh has joined
that group of OEMs. What is important to the user is the orginal
price, running costs, production speed and reliability. Mutoh claims
to have all these buttoned up. T-shirts, hats, workout apparel and
more can be printed in both CMYK
at 1200 dpi as well as white ink
for printing on black and colored
T-shirts on Value Jet 405GT. Its
small footprint, large easy-to-use 7
inch digital control panel, expanded
print area and fast print speeds are
only a few of the features that make the ValueJet 405GT a valuable
addition to any print or screen shop.
HP introduces new set of
ultrafast PageWide printers
Introduced under its PageWide
sub-brand, HP has unveiled a new
portfolio of HP PageWide XL
printers, offering the fastest large-format
production printing available in colour
and B&W. The new printers will enable
reprographic houses, PSPs, enterprise
central reprographic departments (CRDs)
and print corners to produce computer-aided design (CAD)
drawings and will open new business opportunities with geographic
information system (GIS) maps, POS applications and posters. The
newly launched models are: HP PageWide XL 8000, HP PageWide
XL 5000 and HP PageWide XL 4500 respectively. These PageWide
XL Printers are engineered in a perfect manner to meet the changing
customer demands for opportunities to address the print needs of
new markets, including advertising and communication.
Epson launches new SureColor
S-Series 64-inch printers
Adding a new standard to the existing market of inkjet
printing, Epson launches enhanced line of SureColor
S-Series of 64-inch solvent inkjet printers—SureColor
S30675, S50675 and S70675. Equipped with a new Epson
PrecisionCore TFP printhead and incorporating the latest
technological advancements, the new Epson SureColor S-Series
printers provide outstanding levels of reliability, durability and image
quality to the signage, vehicle graphics, fine art, and packaging
markets. Designed and manufactured by Epson from the ground up,
SureColor S30675 and 50675 feature Epson UltraChrome GS2
ink with a newly formulated Cyan ink for outstanding durability
and performance, while the SureColor S70675 leverages the Epson
UltraChrome GSX ink set with newly formulated Cyan and Light
Cyan, plus an all-new Orange Plus ink to produce vivid output with
an expansive colour gamut.
Avery Dennison ads CNMYK
ink functionality to its
Trafficjet1638
For enhanced flexibility, Avery Dennison has added CMYK ink
printing capabilities to its TrafficJet 1638 printer, delivering
an even greater range of functionalities to the printing of
traffic and work zone applications. TrafficJet 1638 is now capable
of printing CMYK inks and TrafficJet spot inks at the same time.
This enhancement will allow the
addition of custom graphics or
logos to traffic signs and the
ability to create commercial
signs on both reflective and vinyl
graphics media.
“Continuous improvement is key
to staying ahead of the curve. The
addition of CMYK functionality
to the TrafficJet 1638 printer
provides significant value to what
is already the reflective industry’s most cost-effective traffic sign
printing system,” said John Peck, global technical product manager
at Avery Dennison. “We are excited about the ongoing evolution in
our industry already underway with digital printing, and we’re proud
to remain at the forefront with additions like this that continue to
enhance the technology,” he added. This newly-added Mutoh Eco
Ultra CMYK inks with overlay will provide a life expectancy similar
to that already available in the graphics industry.
