Winners from India in ‘Outdoor’ category at Cannes Lions 2017

As it happened every year, Cannes Lions 2017, a global advertising festival, was recently wrapped up at the French resort town of Riviera with the celebrated announcement of winners including some from India. Here SIGN & GRAPHICS looks back at the winners, not as a whole but the Outdoor category, under which three entries from India bagged the prestigious global awards.

What it dominated this year at the Cannes Lions 2017 was of those from the advertising world. Though the evolution of digitally-driven ideas get their fair share of attention all around there is still a big room for the traditional print and outdoor displays—this was what Outdoor Lions Winners at the festival loudly conveyed! In the Grand Prix category, Twitter bagged multiple accolades; hashtag culture is part of our lives these days– even outside of Twitter, which started the trend. This campaign captures the power of the medium as an intrinsic part of social discourse and won Grand Prix trophies.

Shined among the league of 102 Outdoor Winners were contestants from India. Ogilvy & Mather India bagged a Gold for the Savlon Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks campaign for ITC Savlon, while McCann Worldgroup India won a Silver for its campaign – Cat, Dog and Rabbit – for World for All (Animal Care and Adoptions).
