Growing prospect of
wide-format graphic solutions revealed at
PRINTPACK INDIA 2019


Among the host of more than 500 exhibitors showing whole gamut of printing, packaging and converting machines at the PRINTPACK INDIA 2019, which was organised from February 1-6 at India Expo Centre in Greater Noida, were some from the signage sector who uniquely presented the growing prospect of wide-format graphic solutions. The exhibitors demonstrated the latest machines and technologies for digital wide-format printing, routing, engraving and others.

The exhibitors from the signage sector showing latest innovative machines and technologies at PRINTPACK INDIA 2019 were ColorJet India, Mehta Cad Cam Systems, Canon India, JN Arora, HP, Monotech, Zund, EtchCut International, Vee Kay Enterprises, among others. ColorJet India demonstrated a complete range of products comprising the indigenously made, but internationally acclaimed printers such as VERVE, VERVE Mini, OPTIVALUE Build, POLO HQ, among others. “Our overall idea is to offer new opportunity to go ahead of time in business with our range of advanced machines,” informed Smarth Bansal, DGM Product and Brand, ColorJet India. The showcase at the company’s stall also included a line of Roland printers, including Roland VersaEXPRESS-RF and Roland True VIS VG-640.

In the line of key products shown by JN Arora at its stall during the expo were some large-format printers including Smartjet flatbed system and Mimaki CJV150-75. Mimaki CJV150-75 is Mimaki’s high-specification entry model, as its print & cut function immediately turns an idea into a real product. Aashish Arora, Director, JN Arora & Co (P) Ltd, said they develop such a machine/product portfolio that can provide signage companies a complete solution. Other products in the portfolio consist of Italian company Siser’s heat transfer vinyl range as well as a line of Avery Dennison vinyl materials.

Mehta Cad Cam Systems was yet another big exhibitor from the signage sector showing a complete range of digital large-format printers, lager engravers and CNC routing systems. The printers on showcase at the company’s stall included RasterJet RJ 1601 eco-solvent 1.6 m inkjet printer and highly versatile GZC3202 SG solvent printer with Spectra Starfire printhead. In addition, the company also showcased its EVA Series laser engraving & cutting machines with glass laser tube, among others.

Diwakar Mishra, National Head - Marketing, Mehta Cad Cam Systems Pvt Ltd, said the large-format printing is gaining new ground among the offset printing players. “We know that PRINTPACK INDIA is predominantly for those who engage in offset printing and packaging converting. Our participation in the expo is to make aware of the growing prospect of wide-format printing among them,” he adds. Vee Kay Enterprises also showcased its range of versatile VK printers. Nikhil Wadhwa from Vee Kay Enterprises mentioned that they have received a good footfall of serious trade visitors who are commercial printers, but showed extra interest in digital large-format printing.

HP had a well designed stall with a gallery full of print samples printed on HP Latex printers and HP DesignJet series. The machines on showcase at the company’s stall included HP Latex 335 print & cut solution printer, DesignJet Z9+ PostScript Series printer and others. HP Latex 335 is considered to be the best in its class of 60-inch printers. It is a true print and cut system—it prints AND cuts at the same time, unlike print OR cut in case of solvent systems. EtchCut International at its stall demonstrated its high precision etching/cutting machine with Japanese pump, which is designed to produce cut modular frames or display systems made of metal and any other unconventional materials.

Introduced during the expo Monotech first time demonstrated its PIXELJET miniRTR entry-level UV LED roll-to-roll printer pulling waves of visitors. “This new six feet UV machine is a right choice for those planning to add an UV or eco-solvent printer in their production facility. Featuring Thin-Film Piezo Electronic Technology (MEMS), this printer is equipped XAAR 1201 industrial grade printhead, supporting water-based ink, eco-solvent ink, sublimation ink and UV ink,” explained Akash Kumar, Senior Manager- Marketing & Commercial, Monotech.

ESKO demonstrated its widely popular Kongsberg X24 cutting table, which is designed for packaging as well as POP/POS designs. Arnab Maiti, Sales Director, South Asia for ESKO, informed that the machine has been sold and installed at the production facility of New Delhi-based AP India. The ESKO cutting table is compatible with a diverse range of materials such as adhesive vinyl, PVC banner material, mesh banner material, paper, textile and others.

Rated to be one of the best choices in digital cutting, Zund at its stall showcased one its S3 Digital Cutting Systems, alongside the Zund Design Centre, a dimensional design software based on Abode Illustrator Plug-in. “This software is designed for creating single and multi-art packaging and three-dimension POP/POS displays ranging from folding carton, corrugated cardboard, foam-board, sandwich panel, PP, PVC and MDF,” mentioned Prasana Venkatesh VA, Managing Director, Zund India Pvt Ltd. The basis of Zund Design Centre is an extensive library of parametric designs from which users can choose a template and enter their own dimensions as needed.

Canon India demonstrated three imagePROGRAF wide-format printers showing the prowess of graphic art printing. The three printers on display were imagePROGRAF PRO-540, imagePROGRAF TM-5200 and imagePROGRAF TM-5300 MFP L36ei.

Featured with Canon Bubble-jet on Demand (12 channel integrated type printhead, the imagePROGRAF PRO-540 can produce high-quality image in maximum print resolution of 2400 x 1200 dpi. In the meanwhile, the all new imagePROGRAF TM-5200 can boost production facility of PSPs with software that can seamlessly simplify and manage print in 2400 x 1200 dpi.

Moreover, Canon imagePROGRAF TM-5300 MFP L36ei is an entry-level autoCAD multi-function printer (MFP) with L36ei scanner that enables easy large-format scanning and copying without a computer. L3ei offers a fast First Copy Out Time (FCOT) as it features automatic buffering of scanned data. The scanned data (TIFF) can be saved to a USB Flash drive while the dedicated utility ScanApp Lei will support TIFF, JPEG, PDF, Multipage PDF, etc. In addition, Canon India also demonstrated Oce ColorWave 3700, which is said to be ‘The Power of Four Packed in One’ as this large-format printer is designed for Black & White CAD printing, Colour CAD printing, Graphic printing and Printing on Specialty Media.
