Mumbai edition of Sign India 2018 showcases
new marvel of products and technologies


Sign India 2018, at its 26th edition in Mumbai, showcased a string of new products and technologies, which were presented by some of the leading manufacturers and dealers in the signage and graphic art industry of India. The overall showcases at three-day expo, organised on February 2-4, 2018 at Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) pulled 9,500 trade visitors and reflected the growing trends the industry has been catching up, motivating the signage and graphic art professionals to get into new marvels and innovations. JYANESWAR LAISHRAM reports a brief account of the expo, giving a highlight of the key exhibits.

The three days of Sign India 2018 witnessed some of the leading manufacturers and dealers of a wide range of products, including machines/printers, printing medias, LED/digital signage accessories, inks, spares and many other allied products every signage maker requires, in a very compact manner. Some of the key exhibitors whose stalls gathered crowd during the expo were NEGI Sign Systems & Supplies Co., Sun Sign & Technologies, JX Enterprise, Newclear Technologies, Applejet, Leister, Teckwin Sign Solutions, Laxmi Sales Corporation, among others.

Crowd pullers

NEGI Sign Systems & Supplies Co, showcasing its range of NegiJet Series and Brother garment (T-shirt) printing machines at the expo attracted visitors, who were impressed with the new prospects of graphic art printing as well as the fresh marvel of garment printing. The company is a sole distributor of Brother T-shirt printing machines in India. “We are now heading towards a new direction with the expansion of our product portfolio,” said Girvir Negi, director, NEGI Sign Systems & Supplies Co, pointing out their success story of Brother machine distributorship.

With its showcase of a line of Allwin and EPSON eco-solvent printers, Newclear Technologies announced the expansion of their product line by adding two new products—Bodor laser cutting machine and TOYO Ink. “We no longer distribute Yuming laser cutting machines. In place of it we start distributing Bodor, which is new in the Indian market and featured with advanced features,” said Harikrishnan AP, regional manager, Newclear Technologies.

Another big crowd puller was Sun Sign & Technologies, which showcased new MW (Mean Well) LED power supply systems, SENFA range of backlit materials, Starflex line of backlit materials designed for corporate projects.

Deepak Gupta, director, Sun Sign & Technologies said they presented a line of textile media, opening new opportunity for sign makers in certain regions of India where ban of flex materials has be phenomenally taking place.

JX Enterprise, a sole distributor of Gongzheng printers in India, showcased a set of its existing machines, offering the visitors a new prospect of premier printing.

Varun S, manager, JX Enterprise mentioned that the machines they put on showcase at their stall, such as GZM Dimatix Starfire 1024 printhead, GZC 3202SG and GZH 32 with 6 Diamatix Starfire printheads, are the ones PSPs should rely on for both indoor and outdoor graphic productions.

As they do at every expo Mehta Cad Cam Systems attracted crowd to their showcase of a complete combo of printers, CNC routers and laser engravers.

The demonstrated machines/printers, which the company manufactures or assembles locally under the Make in India programme, were metal cutting machine Gloria 480, Thunderjet C-16, Jinjuan automatic bending machine and GNZ 3204 SG. EPSON WF-C869R photo printer at its compact stall was also a crowd puller on all three days of the expo.

New launches

Among the new big launches took place during the expo were some eco-solvent and UV printers from Applejet. Pramod Navekar, director, Applejet (Rekon Imaging) said the printers are made especially for the Indian market, signifying affordability, cost effectiveness and some technical advancements. The printer is equipped with XAAR 1201 printhead, capable to run it with 2.5 pl, 8 grayscales (variable size droplet). VN Technology introduced its PrintJet X1804 eco-solvent printer and A3 T-shirt printing system.

Naren Gothi of VN Technology said the expo is the right platform to introduce new products.

Admark Digitech also launched a new CNC router—NICNC, which is available in 3 axis and 4 axis customised solution.

Teckwin Sign Solutions in a big way announced the introduction of an upgraded Teckwin 1500 printer with new XP00 printhead, capable to run at the speed of 300 sq ft. P Vijayaraj, director, Teckwin Sign Solutions said the printer can take a wide range of media, such as PP, photo paper, vinyl, light box, wall papers, among others.

Displayed at the stall of Laxmi Sales Corporation was a line of NOVASTAR Deco Print Fabric, Backlit Vinyl, Pearl Backlit and others, which were launched all new at the expo. Dmark Laser Technology also introduced a new laser cutting and engraving machine with X-Y optical path system designed for ensured consistency in cutting.

Other attractions

Leading regional distributors and channel partners at the expo presented a gamut of machines, materials, software and allied technologies designed for innovative production of signage and display solutions. Among them were Varay Image Runner and Target showcasing quite a long line of Canon printers, including imagePROGRAF iPF Series and imagePRESS C Series. The companies introduced some PRO Series (520 and 540S) as well, during the expo.

PAL Associates, one-stop solutions for all graphic art printing needs, also presented their products in a very crowd pulling way.

The company’s CP 3000 and BP 600 print and cut machines were some key attractions at their stall during the expo. Autodesign, an online template provider, showed innovation in sign making. Macart Equipment, which boasts its PicoJet range of solvent and eco-solvent printers, at the expo attracted crowd right from the day one of the expo.

Siare Technologies showcased a line of WitColor and Challenger printers, alongside the SINOINDO industrial laser and CNC routing systems. Among the exhibitors showing finishing equipments was Leister, which showcased some state-of the-art Uniplan E and Uniplan Wedging systems designed for operating more reliably than gluing or sewing.

GLOBAL 5, distributor of HP printers/machines, at the expo attracted crowd by showing some of the premium range of HP Designjet printers, such as D5800 production printer, HP PageWide XL-5000 and HP Latex 335. Prashant Khomme, managing director, GLOBAL 5, said the expo bring the right visitors who show keen interest in their showcase of HP systems.

At the expo, Rakez (Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone) pulled visitors to their cost-effective and customised solutions to meet specific business needs for companies.

Ashwin Khanna, sales team leader-Rakez India said they provide home to more than 100 companies on diverse segments, including printing industry, nurturing them to provide them high-class business support.

Around 96 percent of the exhibitors expressed to take part in the next edition of the expo. The next edition of Sign India 2018, which will be the 27th edition, is taking place from July 20-22 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
