Agfa to increase production of water-based inkjet ink

Agfa, known for its wide-format UV inkjet printers including the Anapurna and Jeti series and the new Oberon, has announced that they will significantly invest in the expansion of its inkjet ink production capacity to cope with growing global demand. The company’s new production facility, located at its headquarters in Mortsel, Belgium, will focus on water-based inkjet inks and enable Agfa to serve its current customers, as well as to be a key supplier of aqueous inkjet inks for a wide range of novel applications. A statement from the company says its first target is to grow market of printing on décor paper for laminate floorings and furniture panels. The second target is the market of inkjet printing on corrugated carton.

In combination with Agfa’s existing facilities, the new plant will form an expanded production centre where R&D and Quality Control teams will be co-located. Its manufacturing capacity should cover the expected growth rates of ink volumes for the next five to ten years, mentioned a source from the company.
