Sterling Sign Systems goes north with a new sister concern in New Delhi

Bengaluru-based Sterling Sign Systems, an authorised distributor of Mean Well in India, has expanded its pan-India footprint with the opening of a new subsidiary in New Delhi. The company’s new branch in the capital city is designed to meet increasing demands for power supplies from different industrial segments that are beyond signage.

The new subsidiary of Sterling Sign Systems, which is called BrightWorks Lighting Solutions Private Limited, is located at Moti Nagar in New Delhi. Unveiled in December 2019, the new division of the company has a new team and new vision to serve the market. Rajesh Choraria of BrightWorks Lighting Solutions Private Limited says that they decided to open the new office in New Delhi with an aim to tap the growing market potential in north India.

A flashback

“We have been involving in the signage industry for a long time, with our bases dotted in different cities in different regions all across India,” narrates Rajesh. He adds that their root is dated back to 1992 when they were established as Uttkar Sign Products, a local distributor of vinyl media in Kolkata. Later, in 1999, they moved to Bengaluru where they changed the company name to Sterling Sign Systems.

The product portfolio of Sterling Sign Systems primarily consisted of inkjet media or materials for water-based printing. “That time we were also known for supplying Durofix cold lamination film,” mentions Rajesh, adding that the company’s product line kept expanding from printing media to many others and their activities started to involve in machine dealership.

Caldron partnership

Sterling Sign Systems partnered with Caldron Graphics for the distributorship of Caldron printers in Karnataka. “It was quite a success story for us when we started selling Caldron printers in Bengaluru and others cities across Karnataka. We sold Caldron printers to almost all leading PSPs in the city, such as Diamond Signages. Still many of them are running the printers we supplied,” says Rajesh.

Mean Well chapter

A big turn took place in the business of Sterling Sign Systems in 2004 when they started the distributorship of Mean Well power supplies. “Mean Well is a brand with a trust for value and quality. Main forte of Mean Well products is its reliability and durability which every sign maker would appreciate, trust and use for years,” comments Rajesh.

He continues, “How often could sign makers change components in channel letters installed in highly elevated buildings or such odd locations? In such case, Mean Well products are guaranteed for longevity of life span and no breakdown.” Mean Well products are distinguished themselves from the other power suppliers in the market by their high reliability. The products are characterised by very stringent safety, efficiency and quality procedures, so that end users are assured of sophisticated power suppliers with longevity and compliant with all prevailing standards.

Synonymous with quality

Since its inception in the year 1982 in Taiwan, Mean Well has become synonymous for high quality range of power supply series such as AC/DC switched power supplies, DC/DC converters, DC/AC inverters, adapters, and battery chargers. In 1994, Mean Well attained the ISO9001 certification and it has multiple manufacturing facilities in Taiwan, China and Philippines.

“As of now we import Mean Well products from China and Philippines. The company is undergoing construction of its manufacturing plant in India at Bengaluru. If not stuck in this corona crisis it would have opened long time back. However, it may likely to open in the next few months. Once the ‘Make in India’ manufacturing plant of Mean Well is operational, everything will be convenient for us,” says Rajesh. He adds that Sterling Sign Systems has built a strong reputation for quality and wide range of premium products after their partnership with Mean Well.

Sustainable business

Ever since the outbreak of COVID-19 in January, the pandemic has brought a majority of the global economic activities to a halt, hurting businesses severely in all segments. However, being the partner of high-quality products/brands such as Mean Well, Sterling Sign Systems maintains stability with its commitment to providing best products and service during the unprecedented time.

“We are looking forward to gradual expansion of our footprints at pan-India level. Opening of our new division, BrightWorks Lighting Solutions Private Limited, in New Delhi is a strategic step to mark our presence in new region and market domains,” mentions Rajesh, adding conclusively that the company’s overall signage-related products and service will be exclusively dealt by Sterling Sign Systems only.
